Washington Schools
The Timber Ridge Center is an alternative program for both regular and special
education students in grades 6-12 who have dropped out, are at-risk of dropping
out, or who are seeking an alternative school experience. A continuum of
educational services is available to meet the needs of students struggling to
make educational progress. These include counseling, intensive and integrated
special education services, contract-based learning, distance learning, and
vocational planning.
Background: Timber Ridge Center is a public-private partnership between Special
Education Services and a consortium of Whatcom County school districts
including Blaine, Lynden, Meridian, Mt. Baker, and Nooksack Valley. Timber
Ridge Center is an alternative school for both regular and special education
students. The program is a member of Washington Association for Learning
Alternatives (WALA) as well as a Washington State Board of Education and OSPI
approved non-public facility for special education students.
